The Wheels Begin To Turn....
I finally acquired both the Necron and Imperial Guard Codexes. This has proved pretty interesting, as basic calculations show that a foot slogging guard army will outnumber my Necrons by over a factor of 2. Looking at a lore perspective on this, I am trying to determine the best bodies on the ground to be hybrids. Its seems I should use them as a distinction if numerical differences will vastly exceed all possible units for a Necron army. 1st idea was use as a Penal Legion, who volunteered for the project to gain innocence. Another possibility would be to use them as the specialist of the army, Veterans, Storm troopers, Command personnel. Modeling at this point seems to favor the former, but with the addition of various colored Necron guass rods, I could incorporate the use of most major special weapons. Just some thoughts for now, serious number crunching should help.

It kind of depends on what theme you want for your terminator army. If it is Cyberdyne destroys all humanity, then yes penal legion would work. On the other hand, it could be "resistance repurposed CD tech to fight the machine and take back Terra for humanity" which would necessitate a John Conner-esque command structure of gritty humans leading a motley crew of broken-down, cobbled together terminators. It's all in the justification. If you did the second one, though, that would mean you would have to double-up on HQ choices (one set for Necron, one for Guard) as I doubt you could find a way to camoflauge a Necron Lord to be anything other than the HQ of the Guard, and you certainly won't be able to pull of John Connor, leader of the Necrons.
