The Wheels Begin To Turn....
I finally acquired both the Necron and Imperial Guard Codexes. This has proved pretty interesting, as basic calculations show that a foot slogging guard army will outnumber my Necrons by over a factor of 2. Looking at a lore perspective on this, I am trying to determine the best bodies on the ground to be hybrids. Its seems I should use them as a distinction if numerical differences will vastly exceed all possible units for a Necron army. 1st idea was use as a Penal Legion, who volunteered for the project to gain innocence. Another possibility would be to use them as the specialist of the army, Veterans, Storm troopers, Command personnel. Modeling at this point seems to favor the former, but with the addition of various colored Necron guass rods, I could incorporate the use of most major special weapons. Just some thoughts for now, serious number crunching should help.

The Plan
Project Immortal Soldier is an idea for a 40k army that I have had ever since I saw the Necrons. Terminator: the movie which obviously brings the classic image of the undying machine horde to life. Catachans meet Necrons for the Schwarzeneggeresque half man half robot. Until recently, I was unable to talk myself into the expense and long hours of customization. That's when I realized the answer: both. Its ok to build a massively customized army that requires you to buy 2 troops for every model if you can play it as 2 armies. This weekend will mark the official kick-off of the project as I hit up my FLGS to acquire 1 box of Necron warriors and 1 box of Catachans. As the bits fly, and the conversions become increasingly hybridized, this blog will serve as a record of the project. Pictures will be frequent, and feedback is more than welcome. The ultimate goal is to have a fully functional Necron/Guard army by the end of the year, fully painted, based, and tournament ready.
